It’s been nearly 3 years since I’ve posted on this site. In that timeframe, I thought I was going to be updating everyone about the Mississippi Matt story in book form, that I’ve been longing to publish. Alas, other things in life have consumed my time and that book remains very much a work in progress. Until then, I thought some of you may be interested in my next adventure, which kicks off in about a week.
On August 7, I’ll be starting off from Newport, Oregon on a bicycle to begin a 3,700 mile journey across North America to Newport, Rhode Island. This land journey is what I thought I was going to do 3 years ago, until somehow the appeal of the water journey gained prominence in my thoughts. Now, I feel it’s time I took up this challenge that’s been in the back of my mind for about 45 years.
If you want to follow along on that adventure, subscribe to https://pedalingpilgrim.blog/. This journey will be 55 days of riding plus some days off along the way. Again I plan to blog every day. And, I have 2 side dishes committed to share the adventure: Mark Lecy (who paddled with me for 2 weeks) will join from Oregon back to Chicago, and Geeto Reilly (recently retired Chicago Fire Department Captain) plans to stick it out the whole way, from the Pacific to the Atlantic.
I can’t promise the same level of surprise and intrigue, but I’ll try to keep it interesting, informative and fun. I can’t imagine meeting better or more interesting people and experiences, but I’m keeping an open mind and may be surprised by what this adventure brings. Thanks in advance for any interest and support along the way!
