I wanted to let you all know, I’m currently camping on Island 28, 14 river miles north of the Ohio River confluence at Cairo, Illinois. Mobile phone service is again relatively non-existent, so it’s going to be tough getting photos (and certainly video) to load. I’m still 2 days behind on the blog, though I have one ready to post that needs a better connection; I’ll continue try to get up to date.
Today was my first day solo again; I did 39 miles in about 7 hours today. I figure on doing 40-55 miles per day from here out. As it currently stands I have 870 miles left; that puts me somewhere around 20 days to New Orleans. I may take a day off in Memphis or Vicksburg or both, so if anyone is planning to join my last portage down Bourbon Street, probably around the 17th of October will be my arrival (+/- a day); I’ll keep you posted as I progress.
Though the sun is gone down and the moon is come up, but I’ll keep blogging. And in the daytime know that I’m still driving and striving as fast as I can, because I’m going the distance, just as in this bonus playlist addition: The Distance by Cake
